back home
ah i've been back in singapore since a week ago, but here's a shoutout to those people i still haven't told! meet up soon, guys! =D
on a separate note, i'm really glad to be home. i guess this must be a familiar refrain, but it's quite true that there's no place like home. i didn't miss singapore very much when i was in oxford, but it's coming back home and being able to do all those things you couldn't do, or eat those foods that you couldn't find, that makes your heart ache knowing that in a few weeks more you won't be able to for another 2 months. the heat nonewithstanding, i really like being back home. of course it helps that some of the people who are dear to me are also here in singapore. (to abiel: nope it's doesn't include you i'm afraid. cuz you're not just 'dear' to me =P) haha! oh and i've been nuah-ing at home, spending productive days not doing logic (a common refrain -- stop laughing!) so i will have to shift my lazy ass to somewhere to study soon, or face my tutor's wrath.
speaking of which! i got my report from my tutors. i actually got a "generally satisfactory" for logic! eh don't tell me this is the lowest grade they'll give, please, cuz i was congratulating myself for being able to pass logic. for economics, my tutor was actively encouraging me to do a postgraduate degree in...econometrics. (yes you read right). i have no idea why she came to that conclusion, given the fact that my mathematical (in)ability rank as high up there as my logic, but there we go, proof that miracles do exist.
ohoh! and i saw a naked man in public! i was at twickenham stadium with john watching a rugby match (oxford vs cambridge -- dont ask me for the results) and then suddenly there was this commotion a few benches below me. i looked to my left and saw this guy butt naked (pun intended, since i saw him from the back) and he was wiggling his butt around and trying to distract the rugby players in the pitch below (i think he was drunk. the pitch was about 1 storey below us, at least). the funniest part was, john's hand was creeping up from the side of my face, and very very slowly trying to block that hideous sight from me. while he continued looking on, i might add. rofl. it was such a surprising occurence that i literally was stunned and continued looking (even though sanity and disgust would take over most other times). the ending was he was arrested. so anti-climatic right!
if there's one thing i miss about oxford (already) it's the complete and utter freedom i have there. i can do anything i want -- and i mean anything. here i strive to be home by 11pm, there i will be wondering if i should head out to a club or go to someone's room to watch a movie or chat. and also running out in the cold -- you warm up in a jiffy, and the cool crisp wind feels so good, and you feel like you can run forever. over there i can easily run 10km and still feel fresh at the end of my run, here by 5km i am wiltering under the extreme heat. that gives me the freedom to run anytime i want, and not by 8am. financially i think i am in a better state there than here too, but having said that i hardly spend a cent when i'm here, and spend a lot when i'm there. i think it's to do with how the absolute prices are so much lesser in uk than in singapore. i miss my friends too -- they're so nice! ah, so now i'm missing both places (which is weird considering i'm actually in one now) and also wondering what there is to be done at 425am in the morning.
i think i will get breakfast and stop my gibberish. =)
